Pink Moon Magic: The Thrilling Full Moon of April 2025

Home » Paganism » Pink Moon Magic: The Thrilling Full Moon of April 2025

The air simmers with anticipation and possibilities as the Full Moon in April 2025, also called the Pink Moon, approaches. April’s spiritual energy is rife with fresh intentions and hope.

The name has nothing to do with its color (apologies to anyone hoping for a hot pink moon in the sky). It’s actually referring to wild phlox blooming this time of year.

Since the Full Moon is a good time to stir up some witchcraft mischief, I put together a guide on the Pink Moon’s spiritual meaning, correspondences, and ritual ideas to help you celebrate!

Please note that I make every effort to ensure this information is correct and accurate through my own experiences and referencing sources throughout AND at the bottom of this article.

When is the Full Moon in April 2025?

In 2025, April’s Full Moon, the Pink Moon, occurs on April 12th and peaks at 8:22 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.

The Full Moon phase connects with the season and time of year it falls. Their names come from many beliefs around the world, including Native American, Celtic, Anglo-Saxon, Germanic, and more modern Neo-Pagan traditions. Each moon carries its own Moon Magic and spiritual energy.

What is a Pink Moon?

The Pink Moon rolls in every year like Nature’s neon sign to mark the shift in seasons and remind you that Spring is here! Remember, ancient people used the Full Moon to track time, long before calendars.

There are many different traditions surrounding April’s Full Moon. Some spiritual practitioners use it as a guide when to begin planting their gardens, others use it to celebrate with feasts, spells, and rituals.

Why is it Called a Pink Moon?

April’s Full Moon isn’t actually pink (unless something wild is happening in the atmosphere, in which case, grab your camera, you’re in for a show).

Wild Ground Phlox (also known as Moss Phlox aka Phlox subulata) takes all the credit for naming April’s Pink Full Moon because it’s bursting into bright pink blooms right now!

Pink Moon Spiritual Meaning

April’s Pink Moon is giving you an opportunity for a course correction. Maybe you started down a path that no longer fits, or you’ve been ignoring your intuition. Use the Pink Moon as a time to pause, reflect, recalibrate, and make sure you’re moving in the right direction.

For witches and spiritual practitioners, this April Moon’s spiritual meaning symbolizes truth-seeking, boundary-setting, and energetic maintenance.

Now is a great time to do some divination work to help guide you through the Spring season. I also recommend reinforcing protection spells and doing a cord-cutting ritual to sever any lingering Winter attachments you want to let go of before the wild energy of Summer kicks in.

When is the Paschal Full Moon in 2025?

The Paschal (pronounced pass-kl) Full Moon helps to determine the date of the Christian celebration of Easter. The holiday celebration of Easter always occurs on the Sunday following the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox.

In 2025, March’s Full Worm Moon rises BEFORE the Spring Equinox takes place on March 20th. This makes April’s Full Moon the Paschal Moon!

April’s Full Moon lands on April 12th (April 13th in Jerusalem), making Easter land on April 20th.

Pink Moon Spiritual Journal Prompts

I created these prompts to help you connect with the thrilling spiritual energy of April’s Pink Moon.

What’s something you say you want but keep resisting? Be brutally honest with yourself: What’s stopping you from going after it?

If you could banish one limiting belief under the Pink Moon tonight, what would it be? Now write down the first thing you’ll do tomorrow now that your belief is gone.

What “weeds” (negative influences, draining habits, toxic relationships) need to be pulled from your life?

Picture your future self a year from now, looking back at you today. What advice are they shouting at you? Now, what are you going to do about it?

Is there an aspect of your spiritual practice that feels stale? How can you shake things up and make it exciting again?

If you could craft ANY spell under April’s Pink Moon, what would it look like? (Now why aren’t you doing it, LOL?)

Wind Moon Ritual

April’s Moon is also known as the Moon of Windbreak. As rain, thunder, and wind storms continue throughout April, they spread seeds and life along with them. Reminding us of the power, strength, and endurance of Mother Nature.

Why not embrace that dazzling wind energy? Sit outside and let it blow across your face and through your hair. Let the wind flow through you and around you; embrace it within you. Let it remove all the negative energy, stress, or “bad vibes” from your body.

Bring out your crystals or witchcraft tools to give them a wind cleansing as well.

Ritual to Use April’s Dandelions

April brings lots of dandelions! These “weeds” have many uses, so don’t discount them! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Create a flower crown
  • Make dandelion oil
  • Decorate your home with them
  • Use them to dye eggs or fabric
  • Leave the dandelions alone and watch the bees enjoy them
  • Eat them! The whole plant is edible, but make sure they haven’t been sprayed with weed killer. If you’d like to create your own powerful materia medica, check out the Best Herbalism Books for Beginners.

Protection Rituals Beneath April’s Pink Moon

As the spiritual energy of April’s Full Moon shifts, now is a great time to reinforce any protection spells you have in place. Your protection efforts are more potent beneath the Full Moon, so why not use it for some tried-and-true magic?

If you don’t have any protection spells in place, what are you waiting for? Create your own protection sigil and carve it into a protection candle to remove or stop any negative energy from entering your space. I’d also recommend you check out my article about The Best Herbs for Protection Magic You (Probably) Already Have.

You can also DIY some Cascarilla and use it to create protective barriers, purify spaces, and repel or neutralize negative energy. You can even put it in your ritual bath!

A Pink Moon Ritual for Manifesting Your Dreams

This Candle Magic ritual is perfect for connecting with the themes of April’s Pink Moon, including intuition and new growth! I highly recommend checking out my Candle Magic Series on YouTube if you’d like more in-depth information.

Gather Your Supplies

  • Chime Candle
    • Pink (symbolizes self-compassion, joy, and happiness)
    • OR Purple (helps with manifestation, creativity, and knowledge)
  • Olive oil
  • Mint (dried leaves or essential oil) to attract financial prosperity
  • Pinch of Nutmeg for luck and good health
  • Lavender (dried or essential oil) to promote happiness and peace
  • Lighter or matches
  • Headphones or earbuds
  • Fire-safe candle holder (I like to use a 6.5″ cast iron)
  • Supplies for creating a Vision Board:
    • Cardstock Paper, Journal, or try creating a digital vision board (Canva would be a great choice for this)
    • Scissors
    • Glue or tape
    • Images or words representing your manifestation goals (Pinterest, Canva, old magazines, photos on your phone, and AI image generators are great for this)

Prepare Your Space and Ritual

Organize your supplies in a quiet space where you won’t be disturbed. Somewhere, you can relax and be yourself. Create a cozy space for yourself with mood lighting, candles, incense, diffuser, or whatever makes your heart sing. I’d also recommend cleansing the space in the method of your choice.

Arrange your supplies on a clean altar or table. Ensure it’s safe to burn a candle. Grab your purple or pink candle. Chime candles are popular choices, but feel free to use any candle you prefer. If you need help choosing, watch my YouTube video, Types of Candles and Beginner Basics.

Dress the candle with olive oil, mint, nutmeg, and lavender. For a step-by-step tutorial, check out my YouTube video, How to Cleanse and Dress a Spell Candle. Although this step isn’t required, every ingredient helps add its own magic and spiritual intention to your manifestation.

Start the Candle Ritual

Before lighting the candle, take a moment to focus on what you want to manifest. Take a moment to center and spiritually ground, then raise your vibration to match your spell’s “vibe.” Imagine it clearly in your mind as if it’s happened already. You want it to feel so real that it’s almost like a memory.

When you’re ready, light the candle. Remember, the candle flame represents your manifestations and dreams coming to life.

Put on your headphones and play music that triggers strong and happy reactions! It should be powerful enough to make you emotional. You should feel inspired, amazing, and ready to take on the world!

Creating Your Vision Board

While your candle burns and your music plays, it’s time to get creative! Make a vision board using paper, a journal, or even a digital platform like Canva. Add any pictures or words that represent what you want and inspire you.

Feel the positive energy around you as you create your vision board. Let it fill you with confidence as you attract your manifestation with this ritual.

Close the Ritual

After finishing your vision board, take a moment to think about how you feel and say what you’re grateful for. Allow the candle to burn down completely. Keep your vision board somewhere you’ll see it every day, reminding you of what’s on its way.

penumbra, (from Latin paene, “almost”; umbra, “shadow”), in astronomy, the outer part of a conical shadow, cast by a celestial body, where the light from the Sun [or other light source like the moon] is partially blocked—as compared to the umbra (q.v.), the shadow’s darkest, central part, where the light is totally excluded.

Is There a Black Moon in April 2025?

No, April doesn’t have a seasonal Black Moon in 2025. However, there will be a seasonal Black Moon on August 23, 2025.

A Black Moon is a modern phrase that is very similar to the definition of a Blue Moon. However, it involves two NEW MOONS within a specified time rather than two FULL MOONS. Since two New Moons take place in November, it makes this a calendrical Black Moon.

A Black Moon brings success and good luck. While a Black Moon is not an astronomical phrase, it’s honored and celebrated by Pagans, witches, and other spiritual practitioners.

I hope this post about the Full Moon in April 2025 was helpful! Lots of love to you, and remember, as always…
